The first project of the recently announced partnership bringing together Art Blocks’ minting technologies and Bright Moment's IRL experiences.
Metropolis is a long-form generative art collection by MPKOZ exploring the node-based systems that enable modern society. These literal and theoretical systems are critical to computing, blockchains, logistics, and more specifically, the formation of cities.
Every Metropolis minted in the Art Blocks x Bright Moments primary sale will reflect one of the five Bright Moments locations (New York, Berlin, London, Mexico City and Los Angeles) in the form of an associated on-chain trait.
New York
Berlin
London
Mexico City
Los Angeles
THE METROPOLIS DIPTYCH
Each Metropolis mint reflects a Bright Moments city via an on-chain trait. After the sale, holders can use their unique mint to generate a diptych: a second piece that extends programmatically from the first, minted IRL for free in the associated city.
1.
Collector mints Metropolis #xxx with NY trait
2.
Collector receives 2nd Metropolis #xxx for free (uses same seed as 1st)
3.
Collector can combine both mints to create a diptych
Metropolis IRL Minting Schedule
NYC: Thursday, March 2nd
Berlin: Saturday, March 4th
London: Tuesday, March 7th
Mexico City: Thursday, March 9th
LA: Saturday, March 11th
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Michael Kozlowski (MPKOZ) is an American media artist and software developer. His primary interests are real-time graphics, mixed reality, and interactivity.
As immersive technology becomes more prevalent, traditional two-dimensional video will concede its monopoly on our experience of digital media. Michael is interested in this middle ground—the awkward but often beautiful transition of media as it crosses from two to three dimensions. Most of his work incorporates the input of live or prerecorded two-dimensional video and physical interaction, which is processed and transformed in real-time. He makes video, digital sculptures, and software applications.
Michael attended the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California.
-
A diptych is an artwork composed from two distinct pieces meant to be viewed together. In this context, a diptych contains the original mint and a second mint which derives its traits from the original.
-
Metropolis holders will be able to visit the Bright Moments website and connect using the wallet holding their mint. A QR code will be generated on the website that can be brought to a physical gallery and scanned to mint the associated diptych. Collectors don’t need to bring their wallets to the gallery, and can send a screenshot of the QR code to a delegate if they are not able to attend in-person. All mints are sent directly to the wallet that generated the QR code.
-
No. Diptych minting is complementary and gas is paid for. If you are holding a mint prior to the IRL minting event, you or a delegate can attend and mint for free.
-
Visit https://app.brightmoments.io and connect your wallet holding the Metropolis. You will see a QR code that represents your wallet. Take a screenshot of that QR code and present it to a member of the Bright Moments staff when you arrive.
-
If you can’t attend the IRL minting event associated with your mint, you can send a “delegate” — someone to mint on your behalf. Your delegate will need to show the QR code to mint and the diptych will be delivered directly to the wallet holding the mint.
-
If you buy a mint prior to the IRL event for that city trait, the diptych is still available to mint. If you buy after the IRL minting event, the diptych can no longer be claimed. The dates for each city are available above.
